On 'Sin of consenting adults'

AS I'M a primary school teacher, in-service specialist and academic in the Eastern Cape, let me say that Jonathan Jansen has hit the nail on the head.

The education department is ineffective and the South African Democratic Teachers' Union is destroying the future of tens of thousands of children.

Schooling must be declared an essential service that is ruthlessly enforced.

No strikes, no go-slows, no late arrivals, no early departures, no absence every Friday to go shopping in the morning or absence on pay days and the last day of each month. It is time for an "education state of emergency". - Save the children from their teachers

On 'At least 73 dead in Egypt soccer pitch invasion'

FOOTBALL, like other sports and forms of entertainment, is meant to be an escape from the aspects of life which drag us down.

A match is meant to be a time to enjoy the company of others, whether they are friends, family or even rival fans.

To see people squander this opportunity in favour of violence baffles me. - Scribbles

On 'Justice for Zoliswa'

IS THIS sentence a true reflection of the seriousness of the crime?

Fourteen years for killing someone sounds very mild. This shows that life is very cheap, especially a lesbian's life.

Our justice system is in need of a serious overhaul.

These murderers showed no remorse for a cowardly attack on a defenceless woman - and they get 14 years' jail time. Something is very wrong. - ooooooooo

AS SOMEONE pointed out yesterday, rhino poachers got 25 years. - Scribbles
