What's good for the goose: iLIVE

The media have demanded that the government must be transparent, and that independent bodies must ensure that officials are thoroughly checked for corruption.

The press have consistently stated that those in government positions who are found to have been corrupt must immediately vacate office.

One wonders why the same principle should not apply to the press. After all, the media also has a major impact on people's lives.

Then the press decide that it would not be right to have an independent monitor strictly for the media

Journalists' untrue stories can harm a reputation and cause a lifetime of loss.

It just does not seem right that an apology is all that is needed from one sector of society, while we demand heavy punishment from another for a mistake with similar consequences.

Let us have transparency from everyone.

Then we can all enjoy our freedom, and everyone can play the role of being a whistleblower.
