Why is the ANC trying to reinvent the wheel with an obscurely named media appeals tribunal?
For the 18 years of democracy we have been protected from false information being published by the common law statutes, with severe penalties for lies, slander, defamation or libel.
With these laws in place, the introduction of a special media appeals tribunal is almost like trying to manufacture straighter wheels to reduce manufacturing costs.
