SABC couldn't care less about its viewers: iLIVE

I wonder if Lefa Afrika, head of programming at the SABC, bothers to watch anything on any of the channels he is supposed to be in charge of.

If he had been watching The Voice on SABC on Wednesday last he would have seen Xavier Colon win first place and a prize of $100 000 and a recording contract in that competition. We have been following the contestants on each episode with much interest.

Imagine my surprise and, quite frankly, annoyance when I was made aware that The Voice and the same season that has just finished its run, (with Xavier), is now being  flighted on SABC2.  Not much fun for the SABC2 viewers who must be aware now who the winner is, Lefa!

But why should I be surprised at this bungle?

Mr. Afrikas’ idea of exciting programming, in spite of the, obviously very costly, promotional material for SABC3 constantly pushed in front our faces, is repeat, repeat, repeat! One can be sure that the film that one has watched on SABC1 will within a day or two appear on SABC2 and then very soon after on SABC3.

These two-and-a-half, pre-20 century copies will then do the rounds again and again and…

Does ‘all new’ mean all new repeats – ask the ladies on Wisteria Lane, Californication, etc!

The same music videos repeated over and over. Strap lines imposed over dramas that have no connection to anything being shown.

Who do we voice our opinions to, no number! Is the email address – couldn’tcareless@SABC.com?

It is obvious that Mr. Afrika has taken the SABC's attitude towards the long-suffering viewers of the SABC to heart: 'WE COULDN'T CARE LESS'.

We are pensioners and cannot afford MNet and DSTV, and are stuck with SABC1, 2 and 3 and obviously Lefa Afrika!
