Women's league soft on Malema: iLIVE

Barbie Sandler, Claremont | 07 March, 2012 00:23

It is interesting to read that the ANC Women's League, led by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, is in total disarray.

Could that be why education in this country is also in total disarray?

The league's national executive committee has not even been able to make up a quorum. It has twice postponed its national general council meeting due to the collapse of provincial structures.

Now its section in Limpopo is backing Julius Malema, even though he has been expelled from the party. Women's league members chanted at their general congress that he was "our son, the true son of our Limpopo women".

Chair Maite Marutha said Malema would always be part of the ANC structure in Limpopo, he was always welcome and they would never divorce him.

Malema was expelled for sowing division in the ANC and bringing the party into disrepute, and the women don't see a problem with this? They don't see a problem either with a man who blatantly said a woman who asks for taxi money in the morning has had a nice time.

No wonder their league is in disarray.

No wonder the youth don't listen to anyone because, even when someone is found guilty, you have the women saying everything is fine and they will still support you. Come on all you women in the league, don't take second best. Back your party.

Wouldn't it be better for you to tell Malema to take his punishment like the man he is?

Strangely, the mother of the nation, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, has kept a very low profile since Malema was found guilty. That after backing him to the hilt before.
