Illogical to fight marriage rights: iLIVE

Bob Dubery, Blairgowrie | 16 May, 2012 00:59

The objection by a body of non-elected traditional leaders to existing constitutional rights for gays and lesbians is either poorly thought out or disingenuous.

There is no rational reason for denying gays and lesbians the right to marry.

The objection could just be bigotry applied under the veneer of culture or tradition.

People who accept that culture or tradition (or any other tradition, culture or faith which rallies against equality) are, of course, free to accept that extra-legal constraint, but they have no right to impose their objections on society.
