Wrong outlook on state funds: iLIVE

D Brindle, by e-mail | 25 May, 2012 00:28

ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe is quoted as saying the courts should not be used to "tamper" with how the government spends its money ("Hands off the government", May 22).

It is this belief regarding the finances that skews the system. The government is entrusted to spend state funds wisely.

If the ruling party believes these funds belong to it, inefficiencies are bound to occur. South Africans suffered as a result of the same misguided beliefs under the Nationalist government.
