Zero trust in Cele: iLIVE

Ron Legg, Hillcrest | 29 May, 2012 01:03

Now that the findings are out in the Bheki Cele case, critical questions arise ("No talks on Cele getting top ANC job", yesterday).

Why should Cele believe he was innocent of wrongdoing?

When one observes the number of senior people in the South African Police Service who were found to have lied over the matter, alarm bells should be ringing in parliament. What made Cele and other senior people believe it is okay to mislead an inquiry?

Can we trust our police? Based on the evidence, we can't, especially when we learn about what happens to those who were honest in dealing with the issues involved.

We are in trouble.

The painting of President Zuma is a sideshow in comparison.
