Hand of fate: iLIVE

AR Modak, Johannesburg | 30 May, 2012 00:25

Singer Robin Gibb's obsession with immortality led him to state: "I don't think of death - that's for other people."

He had already been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and was one of many artists who flirted with the fast lane. This claimed the lives of young music personalities such as Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse.

This trend among stars to disconnect with their spiritual selves is not new. We had the Beatles' "we are more popular than Jesus" statement, and Madonna's simulated "cross-over". These are the younger generation's role models - and all succumbing to the powerful hand of fate.
