Shangaans are still disrespected: iLIVE
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Once, when you were a black person, you were not considered human enough. Now the social powers have shifted, others have picked up the baton, but I have stayed on the receiving end of stereotypes.
The joke (intended) here is not that Jesus is black, but that he is Shangaan. This stereotype is buried deep in Mdu and many others' beliefs.
It is an attitude seeded deep in rotten brains. I bet a strong bunch of the Zulus found it funny!!! I can choose to lower myself down to that level, but I have learned to keep some perceptions to myself. They serve no good and I admit they may only be funny to me, so I keep them that way.
I have seen people of Mdu's kind. They demean others to feel good about themselves. And then they call themselves artists.
Like they say, don't get into a fight with a pig, because the situation might get dirty, and the pig just enjoys it. So we will let bygones be bygones.
