The stars Mbalula should be inviting

Thando Kondile, Port Elizabeth | 13 June, 2012 00:02

Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula could invite athlete Marion Jones to talk to the youth about what not to do in pursuit of fame and fortune ("Mbalula sees stars", yesterday).

It is obvious he loves glamorous actresses, but their presence would be more apt in an arts and culture event than the launch of his foundation.

We have sporting heroes from pre-democracy days who were beacons of hope during apartheid.

Surely they would like to be invited to such occasions?

Minister, please look beyond Soweto and Gauteng.

Across the length and breadth of our country there are doyens who are now in the twilight of their days.
