Train users not so safe: iLIVE

PARK OFF AND RIDE: Commuters in Rosebank board the Gautrain for Park Station in the CBD on Thursday, when the last leg of the Pretoria-Johannesburg train ride became operational after an engineering glitch was fixed

Tony Fisher, in his letter "Fancy Gautrain a dead end for most commuters" yesterday, writes about the inconvenience of public transport.

Another serious issue is safety.

I have heard of the mugging of a Gautrain passenger as he walked from Park Station to Braamfontein.

The train itself might be safe, but safety in the surrounding precincts appears suspect.
