Make conditions more favourable for investors: iLIVE

Jobs Needed, by e-mail | 29 June, 2012 00:16

A billboard at OR Tambo International Airport shows President Jacob Zuma wearing a hard hat and an overall .

Behind him in the picture is a construction site showing a crane and metal framework, indicating the early stages of a building.

Above are the words, "Invest in South Africa". However, 99% of hard hats such as the one Zuma is wearing are made in China.

The Jonsson overall he has on is made in Lesotho.

Jonsson, a South African company that has gone global, employs about 2500 people across the border. Pity its manufacturing does not take place in South Africa.

These are two small examples of how fewer and fewer goods sold locally are manufactured in this country. Zuma should make conditions more favourable for investors.
