Policy conference an election campaign: iLIVE
The ANC Policy conference is nothing but a gathering of the party’s planning of slogans and songs for the coming election campaigns.
This we have come to expect as voters. Because if it was about policies for the good of the country there would have been no need for a second transition as there was no transition from apartheid at all as far as the country and poor are concerned.
We all know that whatever the ANC comes up with at this conference will be for the better or worse of us all South Africans.
The policy conference should have been about formulating policies for the country by all stakeholders from academics to opposition parties.
COPE nearly got it right when they were formed but they also got bogged down in party politics of us and them. We read good comments daily from academics and intellectuals of all racial groups; which if they were taken serious by the ANC their comments would be for the good of the country as a whole.
The good of the country has been overtaken the by the ANC’s political selfishness. They selfishly cling to old and tired strategies which cannot be implemented because they are non-starters.
But instead of looking at fresher ways of moving the country forward they turn to a new page (second transition) without having completed or corrected their mistakes of the past. For the past two days the newspapers are filled with irrelevant arguments about who favour who for what position in the party, not the country.
