Time to expect more of nation: iLIVE

Whenever Jonathan Jansen writes a column, readers enthuse about his common sense and high values ("Wrong set of values", yesterday).

Jansen is doing a job for which he is paid and as such, he should be doing a good job. Why are we surprised he does his job with so much passion and insight?

We have become satisfied with the mediocre. For the most part, we accept sloppy work because "that's just how things are".

It is time we demanded more of ourselves. If everyone did their job properly, less would go wrong. If attention to detail was the norm, people would be more motivated.
