Regarding the letter "Capitalism creates gangs" by Dr EV Rapiti on July 10, I was recently approached to buy a blanket for the unemployed. The seller said the blanket was made in China.

"So," I asked, "are we employing people in China to make blankets for our unemployed?"

"Yes," was the reply.

We lack the decency to support our own people.

I have bought many blankets made in South Africa. The quality of local blankets is very good and they keep one warmer than the imports.
