It would be appropriate for the ANC to celebrate Madiba's birthday by serving the needs of people.

What the ANC has become contradicts the values that former president Nelson Mandela epitomises. The party can redeem itself through service delivery.

The concept of "organisational renewal" is an acknowledgement that the party has deviated from its mandate to deliver services.

Honouring Madiba should supersede a mere political lecture, but rather translate into the implementation of his philosophies.
