De Lille cannot blame ANC for her failures: iLIVE

Rev VV Mtini, Cape Town | 02 August, 2012 00:17
WORK FOR ALL: Patricia de Lille, the DA's mayoral candidate for Cape Town, launches the party's manifesto yesterday, saying its policies encouraged job creation, which uplift the poor Picture: MOEKETSI MOTICOE

It is disappointing that Patricia de Lille, with her political and struggle credentials, blames a plot by the ANC for the failure of her administration to deliver electricity to the people of Cape Town (Letters, July 31).

She should have a better understanding of the issues than her predecessors.

It is her administration that closed the electricity customer services centre that used to be the contact centre for the people of areas including Guguletu. It is her administration that disbanded the electrification team in Guguletu that used to be at the forefront of electrification in the informal settlements.

Where is the plot here?

I spent 10 years as a councillor of the City of Cape Town. In 2001 we opened the Guguletu Electricity Complex for people living in predominantly African areas. They now have no access to the complex, and are sent from pillar to post.

De Lille, please clean your own house before you throw stones at others.
