Private care is no better: iLIVE

Concerned patient, by e-mail | 16 August, 2012 00:49

Due to bureaucracy, maladministration and fraud, you "expect" state hospitals to run the way they do.

So, you sign up to a medical aid in the belief that you'll get better care at a private hospital.

This is not the case. You can wait in a private casualty for hours due to there not being enough staff or doctors.

If you are eventually admitted, you are often nursed by unqualified staff.

The only difference between private and government hospitals is that the private ones whack your medical aid. It may be worth investigating whether using private facilities warrants the cost of medical aid.

How much do these private institutions make?

And at what risk to the patient?
