Congratulations are in order to the Proteas for their sterling performance in England. They are now the top Test cricket side in the world.

Gary Kirsten has been in charge for hardly more than 18 months, and results are already starting to show.

It was no mean feat dethroning England - they had not lost a home series in four years. Now that we are on top, the real battle begins. We are the team to beat.

Hashim Amla fully deserved the man of the series award. He led from the front and has proved again that he is a cut above the rest.

The team must now dominate the one-day and Twenty20 versions of the game, starting with the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
