Give a socialist the chance to counter Shapiro's arguments: iLIVE
It is concerning that The Times gives David Shapiro, esteemed as he may be in the area of investment and finance, a soapbox from which to express his capitalistic and privileged background ("Mining more difficult than Disney makes out", August 28).
We all know investment in the country is desperately needed, but must it continue to be at the expense of cheap (read black) labour while the bourgeoisie continue to reap massive incentive bonuses for board members and management?
Shapiro, if you do not know, crime affects the poor (read black) much more than people in suburbs, and the poor (read black) do not get soapboxes from which to vent . We all loathe crime and are affected by it.
Ms Editor, why doesn't The Times also offer an appropriate socialist an opportunity to counter the arguments of Shapiro?
