Julius Malema, having returned from his meetings with Britain's leading money-mongers, is now, once again, posing as the champion of mineworkers.

The now concerted and co-ordinated attacks on the National Union of Mineworkers are in line with the destabilisation programmes used by US intelligence services when faced with governments that fail to implement the interests of US corporate capital.

The attacks on NUM are attacks on Cosatu. The idea is to weaken the left movements in order to topple the ANC.

It is unfortunate that South Africans have learnt to toyi-toyi for immediate gratification; they have not yet learned that real transformation means hard work by the whole population and does not come instantaneously.

Since the demise of monetarism following the 2008 crash, the only countries that have advanced economically and socially are those with state planning.

Zuma's administration is loathed for refusing to sing to the tune of Western powers.

Since assuming office Zuma has initiated the National Planning Commission under Trevor Manuel; for the first time ministers signed performance contracts; tertiary education has been transformed; the public protector has been given room to do her job; and a massive infrastructure programme has been initiated. Also, South Africa has joined Brics.

Clearly, Malema is following the instructions he received during his four trips to the US in 2010 and his recent trip to the UK.
