You ask how we can raise the standard of detective work. First, release the detectives from the prison of fearing loss of their jobs.

Let's bear in mind that detective work is not only about collecting evidence but interrogating the suspects, which is where the work tends to be difficult.

Detective work has stages and once one stage is compromised the conviction rate will be too.

Second, get rid of the tired and demotivated detectives - or promote or promote them to give them new motivation to deliver.

Last, let's avoid the use of questionnaires to address problems in the police. Instead, let people be sent to ground level in order to get the feelings and frustrations of the detectives.

The legislators must not only condemn but be part of the solving of detectives' problems. - Paulson, by e-mail

PROPER screening of recruits and check their educational qualifications will be a good start. Thereafter they need training and should be taken into the detective branch only after passing their training with a good pass rate, not after failing several times but being allowed to continue.

Commanders should be promoted according to their skills and experience in the service of detective investigation.
