NHI needs new leaders: iLIVE

Healthcare. Picture: LEBOHANG MASHILOANE

National Health Insurance only has a chance if we have a change of government and a change of heart ("Grim picture of health", yesterday).

Even at this very late point, things could be rescued if immediate action were taken by all concerned.

But the chances are slim.

On the one hand we have gross mismanagement through overspending and corruption.

On the other hand, money provided by the Treasury is not spent at all.

Both are unacceptable.

The obvious reason for the problems is that unsuitable people are put in positions of control and decision-making.
