The Woolworths affirmative action saga continues to enthral South Africa.
South Africans must expunge all forms of racism from their hearts, minds, bodies and souls.
Covert and overt racism permeate every aspect of South African society.
Covert racism, born out of imperialist needs to maximise profit at the expense of racialised others, stands shielded by institutions, culture, stereotypical assumptions and tradition.
This subtle, subversive and often hidden form of racism, just like its twin, overt racism, is neither innocent nor harmless.
It was US civil rights leader Barbara Jordan who said: "Until justice is blind to colour, until education is unaware of race, until opportunity is unconcerned with the colour of a person's skin, emancipation will be a proclamation not a fact."
