It's a mini-Mangaung: iLIVE

We do not have to hold our breaths in anticipation of what resolutions will be taken at the Cosatu conference, which is under way in Midrand.

As long as the majority of its members and leaders agree on who to support at the coming ANC elective conference, we should not expect fireworks.

It is a mini-Mangaung for me. What happens in Midrand will give us an indication of what to expect in Bloemfontein in December.

It is unfortunate that labour matters take a back seat at these conferences and politics take over. However, it is crunch time for Cosatu and its affiliates. If they take their eyes off the ball, especially in an ANC election year, they run the risk of being irrelevant to their constituency.

Labour issues should be their main concern, not ANC leadership battles.
