Talk cheap, walk swagger: iLIVE
It is rich of President Jacob Zuma to call on senior executives to deny themselves bonuses, perks and salary increases for a year ("JZ wants CEO pay cuts", yesterday). What a cheek.
Having given himself in July an annual pay package of R2.6-million, more than what many presidents of developed countries earn, he has a nerve to suggest that.
I see no tightening of his belt when it comes to his homestead, for which taxpayers are allegedly being fleeced to the tune of millions for upgrades.
Has Zuma changed the ministers' handbook? No. So all his ministers live the good life - last year, billions were used on luxury travel and entertainment.
It is mind-blowing, and all taxpaying citizens of South Africa can do is vote this bunch out. But sadly the people who are most affected by this government, the poor, will continue to vote the ANC into power. Well then, we deserve what we get.
