How to be a winning nation: iLIVE

Alan Wilson, Port Elizabeth | 24 October, 2012 00:12

Your article "Pay freeze would slash tax revenue by R5bn - economist" (October 19) refers.

Of specific interest is the comment by Chris Malekane: "The root of the income inequalities that afflict South Africa is that our people have been robbed of their due in the country's wealth and the current democratic government sustains this robbery on a daily basis by not tackling it directly."

Taking from one party and giving to another is not going to solve problems . All this will do is enrich a few, create a massive flight of critical skills and capital from South Africa and spiral the country into economic oblivion.

South Africans need to understand we need to work together, regardless of our history, to ensure the country prospers.

Killing the goose that lays the golden egg is not the solution. Excellent education will help to free everyone.

We can stay as we are or become a nation of winners. The latter takes strong leadership and a positive plan that focuses on the good that exists in South Africa.

Remember, Chris Malekane, you can't change history, you can only learn from it.
