Tutu wrong: God says homosexuality a sin: iLive
I WOULD like to respond to "Tutu likens Uganda anti-gay bill to apartheid laws", December 12.
I was shocked already way back in 1994-1995 when he stated that people who condemned homosexuality were actually going against God's laws. I asked myself which Bible the archbishop was reading because both the Old Testament and the New Testament state clearly that God condemns homosexuality.
I would like to quote a few scriptures:
Leviticus 18:22: "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
Corinthians 6:9 (ESV): "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practise homosexuality."
Romans 1:26-27 (ESV): "For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."
How could the archbishop miss such clear scripture?
God's condemnation, however, does not mean that He does not love homosexuals. [Their acts] are because of sin, which is perpetuated by the devil to mislead people to do what is contrary to the law of God. God loves them also because the Lord Jesus Christ died for everyone on Earth.
As a Christian, I pray that gays and lesbians will eventually see their folly, repent, and turn away from their abominations. That is the will of God.
Finally, does Tutu want to tell us it is right for the church to allow gay marriages? How can God contradict Himself?
The truth must be told and gays and lesbians must be told that it is wrong. We are to keep on counselling them with love.
