Mabote is right on the money about funerals: iLIVE

I agree with Rams Mabote about a number of things in his article "Getting a proper send-off' (January 11), but I also disagree with a few he mentioned.

I do not agree about the parking of cars all over the street. We need to be considerate and not hinder others at funerals.

I always wonder why, as black people, we feel obliged to talk, conduct funeral services in and even write the funeral programmes and eulogies in English.

I am also against lavishness at funerals. Who is it for?

Showing our dearly departed so-called love by buying a R100000 casket means nothing to them.

We really need to stop showing off at funerals as it is inappropriate and embarrassing.

If you love me, show me while I am alive and I can appreciate and even reciprocate.
