I remember seeing on Carte Blanche that a recycling plant also closed down ("Plastic bag levy goes into a black hole", yesterday).

So what is this scheme about? It's just another money-maker for the government.

This is the only country I know of where you pay for bags.

The cost of living is rising but, in the end, there will be less revenue, less employee tax and less VAT as more and more become unemployed.
