As we commend the Motsepe family ("Motsepe doles out millions', January 31), I hope the bulk, if not all, of the money will be invested in education.

The appalling state of many schools in rural areas continues to deprive the youth of opportunities to uplift their lives and those around them.

While education is a key function of the government, it is clear government has failed and is slow at delivering on these fundamental aspects of not only economic stability, but social stability too.

It is time charity organisations focused on the future, and not on hand-to-mouth projects that create dependency.

Patrice Motsepe and family, give the poor education and your contribution will live long into the future.
