It is obvious the government is trying to get rid of Thuli Madonsela as the public protector ("Madonsela invited to explain", February 13).

It has tried using her deputy, Mamiki Shai, to tarnish her good standing with allegations of maladministration within her office and the R90-million procurement. She will come before the portfolio committee on justice and constitutional development again to refute the claims. We will support her through thick and thin.
