What a "court circus" the trial of Oscar Pistorius is going to be. All the sensation junkies (most of us!) will be causing media ratings and circulations to soar.

Pistorius is wealthy enough to buy the best or worst justice that money can get.

Our thoughts go back to the infamous OJ Simpson trial and the dream team of attorneys and other "experts" who got him off the hook.

That trial was a farce and we can but hope it will not be repeated here - and that our legal system will show that in South Africa all are, indeed, equal before the law. - Cliff Saunders, Northcliff

IN WHAT can be described as a case of anger mismanagement, star athlete Oscar Pistorius's previous bouts of anger might be one of the contestable points when his trial comes up.

He started out with the painful journey of being born with a disability, beat that stigma and became a multimillionaire global icon, a role model for many physically challenged persons, a billboard celeb.

All that now lies in tatters. - AR Modak, Johannesburg

DOES Oscar Pistorius think all the top guns he has hired will show that our police are inadequate in solving a high-profile murder case?

He must be immediately banned from international athletics. - Andy, by e-mail
