The Auditor General has reported that widespread wastage and irregular ANC-Zuma government spending has resulted in the loss of almost R30 billion during the past year.

Yes, thirty billion rand, which is in effect thirty thousand million rand, or R30 000 000 000, lost during the past financial year due to irregular and wasteful expenditure.

The mind boggles at these astronomical figures, which confirms just how uncaring, incompetent, devious, arrogant greedy and corrupt, our ANC-Zuma government actually is under President Jacob Zuma.

A breakdown of this figure has revealed, that R2 billion was incurred through 'wasteful' expenditure, whilst another more than R26.4 billion was incurred due to 'irregular' expenditure.

'Irregular' being the operative word here. In this instance, 'irregular' can mean anything such as, theft, fraud, graft, illegal tenders, overpayments, double-invoicing, ghost employees, bribery and rampant corruption, etc.

How many people can even conceptualise how great is the figure of one billion, let alone thirty billion?

Many people cannot even conceptualise the size of one million.

Many South Africans will never even earn R1 million during their entire working life. These, the majority of our current ANC members, who are prepared to support Zuma and his crooked fat cats through thick and thin.

Do they realise what is going on, or have they been brainwashed to such an extent, that they act as zombies and turn a blind eye to the current shenanigans taking place? Or, are they too scared to question our ANC hierarchy and hold them to account for their many crooked and nefarious actions?

Here might lie the crux of the matter...

To try and imagine how large is the figure of one billion, let us assume, that we have an automatic counter at our disposal that increases, or increments, after activation for every second that lapses, or passes by.

For example, after a period of 10 seconds the automatic counter will display the number ten.

After 60 seconds, the automatic counter display will indicate the figure sixty, and so on, until the enormous magical figure of 30 billion is reached.

Now, we must pose the question, "How long will it take for our automatic counter to reach that enormous, magical figure of one billion, whilst incrementing one unit for every second passed?

Put your calculator away. It is probably not powerful enough to compute this calculation, so I will set out and provide you with the answer below...

To count to one billion, it will take exactly, 31 years, 251 days, 7 hours, 46 minutes and 39 seconds using the aforementioned automatic counter which increments precisely once every second.

Therefore, to count up to 30 billion, which closely represents the current ANC-Zuma government's wasteage and irregular expenditure of our tax money for the past year, it would take over ninety years to count off!

Yes, over NINETY years!

But, and here is the startling scenario, this wastage has occurred over a period of only 365 days, or during ONE year.

Now, let us look at this problem from another angle: There are 86 400 seconds in a day (60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours). Therefore, there are 31 million, five hundred and thirty-six thousand seconds (86,400 seconds x 365 days) in a normal 365 day year.

This means, that our crooked, incompetent, ANC-Zuma government is wasting, siphoning off and stealing from our fiscus at the rate approaching R1 000 (R28.4 billion divided by 31 536 000 seconds in a year = R900.56) for every passing second of the day, or R77 808 219.00 for every day over the entire year.

This situation is totally unacceptable.

We deserve better. Where is 'a better life for all' that our ANC continually promises us?
