To honour the 50th anniversary of Dr. No, the very first movie of the James Bond saga, Relaxnews asked professional makeup artist Virginie Rivière to paint a portrait of the perfect James Bond girl.

Here, Rivière shares her tips for emulating the look and says Uma Thurman would make a perfect Bond girl.

Relaxnews: In general, what kind of makeup is the ideal James Bond girl associated with?
Virginie Rivière: A James Bond girl's makeup must be simple yet elegant. It has to be sophisticated and polished, for a natural effect. That is the hardest thing for a makeup artist to achieve.

R: What is the most important thing to consider to achieve the perfect James Bond Girl style?
VR: Without a doubt, the complexion. It has to be perfect.

R: James Bond girls were either very fair or very tan; which is better? And how can we recreate it?
VR: I favor a tan, which is more fitting for a James Bond girl. The first step toward achieving a perfectly tanned complexion is to choose a foundation that is close to your natural color. Next, you need to structure the face by defining the light and dark zones. Bronzing powder is a way to add a little color while keeping a natural look, but don't use it on the whole face. It's best to apply it in certain areas to bring out the facial structure.

R: What about the eyes?
VR: The main difficulty is that the eye makeup has look natural yet sophisticated. I think the best way to achieve that is by using mascara, which needs to be lengthening. As for the eyeshadow, the colors should be fairly natural but with a luminous effect. You can use a touch of black, but it should be smoky. On the other hand, the ideal James Bond girl's eyebrows must be perfectly defined.

R: A perfect pout is needed for seducing 007. How should it be done?
VR: I definitely do not see red lipstick on the ideal James Bond girl. But the lips should be lined for a long-lasting effect. Again, color must be natural and luminous. I don't think red is suitable because James Bond girls often convey a slightly masculine image.

R: There are two types of Bond girls: the good girls and the spies. How can you show the difference?
VR: The "good" James Bond girls should opt for a light and fresh-faced look, whereas the others need more structured make-up, and definitely tanner skin.

R: What should a James Bond girl always carry with her?
VR: A bronzing powder for a matte effect and lengthening mascara.

R: It may not be your specialty, but what is the most appropriate hairstyle for these femmes fatales?
VR: I would choose a messy hairstyle. Once again, a natural look. I could also see a masculine hairstyle, like Halle Berry's. She has that simple, natural style that defines the ideal James Bond girl.

R: So, to you, Halle Berry is the closest to perfection?
VR: Indeed. Halle Berry is the first one who comes to my mind when I think of James Bond girls. There is also Sophie Marceau, a much softer beauty.

R: Which celebrity who hasn't appeared alongside 007 could become the ultimate James Bond girl?
VR: (Long pause) I think Uma Thurman would be a perfect James Bond girl. She is the opposite of Halle Berry, which could make for an interesting contrast in terms of makeup -- especially with her light-colored eyes.
