Maria Sharapova launched her new candy line Sugarpova at high-end retailer Henri Bendel in New York, August 20.

Multi-talented 25-year-old tennis player Sharapova has stepped into the candy business with an array of hot colours, funky names and yummy packaging. Sugarpova offers a range of 12 gummy delicacies, each bearing a specific name and description.

The little gummy lips are dubbed "Flirty: lips like sugar" and the gummy accessories were named "Chic: some style for your smile." The tennis ball-shaped "Sporty: the taste of victory" are already sold out. Packages sell for $5.99 each or 12 are available for $49.99.

Luxury candy in pretty packaging, targeted for the most part at women, has become increasingly trendy since the 2001 launch of Dylan's Candy Bar, a chain of fashionable sweets boutiques founded by the daughter of American designer Ralph Lauren, Dylan Lauren.

Already available in the US, the colorful Sugapova candies can also be ordered online via the site Sugarpova. Part of the benefits will be donated to the Maria Sharapova foundation dedicated to helping children around the world.
