Thai police discovered thousands of women's panties in the home of professional safecracker upon his arrest for allegedly robbing a jeweller last month, reports said Saturday.

Police arrested Danai Raiweth, 48, at his Bangkok residence after he jumped out a second-floor window in an attempt to escape, breaking his leg, Police Lieutenant General Kamronwit Thupkrachang was quoted in the Bangkok Post.

A search of his house uncovered safe-cracking tools, various stolen items and 5,000 panties hidden in a closet.

Danai told police collecting women's underwear was his hobby.

He said he learned his safe-cracking skills while doing time in Lad Yao prison in Bangkok.

Danai was wanted for the October 11 burglary of 10 million baht (322,580 dollars) from a Bangkok jeweller.
