The Gupta family, owners of The New Age newspaper and Sahara Computers, are planning what has been described as possibly the "wedding of the century", it was reported on Saturday.

According to the Saturday Star, the niece to the three affluent brothers, Vega Gupta, 23, was expected to tie the knot with Indian born fiancé, Aaskash Jahajgarhia at the Sun City's Lost City hotel between May 1 and 4.

"It's the very first wedding of one of our kids and we want everything to go perfectly," Atul Gupta told the publication.

The report adds that the hotel and several of Sun City's services were expected to be closed to patrons, to serve more than 400 guests expected to attend the multi-million rand event.

"I say it is the wedding of the century not because of the money that is being spent, but rather about the culture that is being embraced," Atul said.

Vega is the daughter to the only sister the brothers, Atay, Atul and Rajesh.

The bride was apparently given a choice of venue, but settled on South Africa.

"We gave her options like Mauritius, Italy, Spain and many other countries. She specifically asked to be married here as she holds the country close to her heart," Atul said.

Atul also told the paper that another wedding was being arranged in their hometown of Saharapur in India.
