Amphetamines could cause problems in the bedroom: study
A study of Taiwanese drug users‚ released this week‚ showed that the use of amphetamines could lead to problems in the bedroom including reduced sexual desire and reduced erectile rigidity. Participants were recruited from rehabilitation centres in Taiwan‚ where drug users who are caught by law enforcement are forced to stay for two months. Over a period of five years participants on their first day at the rehabilitation centre were asked to voluntarily fill out a survey on drug use and bedroom experiences.A third of the amphetamine addicts reported problems with getting a rigid erection and a quarter reported reduced sexual desire while on drugs.The drug users were compared with men who did not take drugs. These men‚ in the control group‚ were the recruited from the partners of nurses at two Taiwanese hospitals.Dr Bang-Ping Jiann‚ lead author of The Journal of Sexual Medicine study said: “Compared with 211 men who were not using drugs‚ amphetamine users were twice as likely to experience erectile dysfunction.”The drugs addicts were more likely to be unmarried and single than the men in the study‚ but reported the same amount of sex as men who were not drug addicts.Amphetamines used in South Africa include Tik and Speed.-RDM News Wire..
