What kind of shop is it?

It is a store that offers beautiful gift wrapping, boxes and bags, ribbon, tissue paper, cool things for you and awesome things to give to someone else.

Tell us the story behind the name of the shop.

Our business began as power house for single mums from a disadvantaged community. We employed these ladies to do finishing work for corporate campaigns such as wrapping gifts, applying stickers, packaging, dainty finger work - stuff you need a woman's touch for. This part of the production line is often deemed the most important as it is right at the end before delivery to client and usually very deadline orientated. Our ladies have always taken great pride in their work and their finishing has always been of an excellent standard. So we advertised ourselves as the "Cherry On Top" of your campaign/promotion. We maintain the same passion and standard of excellence in our shop.

How long has the shop been open?

Two years.

How did you get the idea to open a shop like this?

There are so few shops out there that strive to get folk passionate about packaging.

A lot of the places that sell this kind of stock sell it on the side while focusing on other materials like gifts or art supplies. Gift packaging is fun, creative and satisfying and the environment it is sold in should be the same.

What did you do before this?

We supplied the corporate world with gift packaging solutions. The shop now serves as a creative space for corporates and the general public.

What are your plans for the shop?

We recently moved to Parkhurst, where our premises are larger, to keep more stock and, perhaps, bring the manufacturing side on site. We are also planning an interior graphics addition to our shop and have started with photos on canvas, a great concept. You bring in your favourite photo on disc or e-mail it to us. We then print it on canvas and stretch it over a wooden frame to whatever your size requirement, a truly awesome gift.

What kinds of products do you stock?

Boxes, bags, a custom box and wrapping service, fabric-covered boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper, loads of ribbon, lace and cord. Hand-made gifts and jewellery and hand-made stationery. Two really helpful shop assistants and a really good cup of tea! Then, on the interior graphics side, we have the photos on canvas and an option for doing it on wall vinyl still to come.

Describe your customers.

Folk who need stuff wrapped, corporate marketers, account managers, gift searchers, mums, interesting people and wanderers on their lunch break.

Describe your shop in a sentence.

An inspiring environment full of creative incentive and encouragement.

What is the soundtrack in the shop?

Highveld Stereo.

What makes your shop unusual?

Our service and passion for what we do.

Where is the shop?

5, 6th Street, Parkhurst.
