"My mom loved Dr Martens when I was young," says the friend I asked to recall her first pair.

''She's got a picture of us wearing the exact same outfit - dungarees with a crop top, hair in thick, long braids and our matching Docs. They were like Converse in those days - everyone wore them, from the 'grungies' to 'goths' and 'hip-hoppers'."

Last week Dr Martens previewed their autumn collection and their new campaign.

The brand's CEO, David Suddens, said: ''The idea for the campaign developed when we realised everyone remembered their first pair of Dr Martens."

Agyness Deyn is the new face of the old brand, shot in a film recalling her first heartbreak. She stars in the film with Ash Stymest and it's shot by Gavin Watson, known for his British youth and subculture photography.

Following the theme of first moments, the film follows the androgenous pair through nostalgic British scenery, capturing Deyn and Stymest in intimate poses.

On the Dr Martens website, visitors will be able to look at the brand's new styles, which include cosy fur-lined boots, stiletto lace-ups and slip-on moccasins. They will also be invited to share first experiences, from their first pair of Dr Martens to their first crush.

These firsts will be merged into a social map to bring together the vast world of Dr Martens.
