Vaccines – yes they are safe

The US institute of medicine has released yet another study showing that the risks involved in vaccines are minor, and do not include autism or diabetes according to Nature.com.
The report reviewed eight vaccines, those for chickenpox; influenza; hepatitis B; human papillomavirus; diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP); measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); hepatitis A; and meningococcal disease.
The report was commissioned by the US Health Resources and Services Administration, with a focus on the vaccines most likely to be the source of National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP) claims.
Only 14 adverse effects could be directly linked to the vaccines, and in the few cases where the effects were serious – such as with the MMR and chickenpox vaccines, they appeared to only happen where the child had a compromised immune system.
The information from the report was used to update the Vaccine Injury Table hosted by the NVICP.
