Ale bread for no-fail party mood
Beer bread
This bread can be made in a potjie on a fire as a party trick.
Ingredients:
750ml self-raising flour
90ml brown sugar
10g instant dry yeast
5ml dried sage
2ml white pepper
1 x 340ml can beer
90g butter, melted
METHOD:
Sieve the flour twice into a bowl. Add the sugar, yeast, sage and pepper, and then the beer.
Mix well.
Pour into a loaf pan and pour the melted butter over the dough.
Bake at 180C until golden brown and cooked through (about 35 minutes).
SERVES: Six to eight
TIME: 45 minutes
