Phemelo Ngcobo: Buisnesswoman and Tv presenter

What do you drive?

A Jaguar X-Type

Does your car have a name? If so, what is it and why?

I call her "very nice babe". I got the idea for the name from my registration, which is "vb".

What do you like about your car?

It embodies all the things I like. It is luxurious and comfortable. Most importantly, it is sophisticated but understated.

What would your ultimate car be if budget were no issue?

A Bentley Sport. It is sporty without being over the top. Unlike other sports cars like a Ferrari, it isn't a show-off car. It doesn't scream "look at me!"

What's the fastest you have ever driven?

I'm not sure. Speed doesn't appeal to me. I'm more concerned with comfort. Besides, we all have to drive on the same roads and adhere to the same speed limits. Apart from Kyalami, where would I drive a fast car?

What is the worst thing you have ever done while driving, or just in your car?

Hoot at another driver who almost bumped into me. I saw her coming and quickly swerved, but I later discovered that she was an unlicensed driver and my hooting scared her.

Do you consider yourself a good driver?

Yes. I am cautious and I can manoeuvre out of obstacles.

What was your first car?

A Honda Civic. I loved it because I earned it.

What's the furthest you've driven without stopping?

Halfway to Durban.

What's playing on your CD shuttle?

Michael Buble. There is so much rage and chaos on the roads, so I play music that's calm. He is able to lift my spirits when I'm feeling down.

Do you sing and dance along in your car when you are by yourself?

Yes, to a point. I don't get too crazy, but if you drive past me you'll see me singing and talking to myself.

Would you drive a hybrid if they were more easily available in SA?

Yes, if I had more choice.

How do you try to reduce your contribution to global warming?

I don't really think about it on the road.

Have you ever avoided a fine? How?

I unintentionally got out of a fine once. I was pulled over for an expired vehicle licence and the officer asked me why I hadn't renewed it. I told him I had no excuse and joked that he'd probably heard them all before. Surprisingly, he let me go for my honesty.

What gives you road rage?

Careless drivers. I get the sense that some drivers are doing stuff other than alcohol. It scares me.

If you could invent a car accessory, what would it be?

Knight Rider-type technology like a car that you can speak to and it writes your e-mails for you and sends them.
