The largest annual gathering of Ferraris in South Africa took place last Saturday, when an estimated 80 of the sleek sports cars screamed onto the Kyalami race track in Midrand.

The event was hosted by the Southern Equatorial Ferrari Automobili Club (SEFAC), which was created in 1967 with the blessing of Commendatore Enzo Ferrari, making it the oldest Ferrari owners' club in the world. Most of the Club's 200-plus Gauteng members were present; not just to show off their spectacular Maranello masterpieces, but to test their performance on our country's most famous race track.

Cars on track included the fire-breathing F40, the super-exclusive 458 Italia, F430 Scuderia 16M and the super California, as well as classics such as the Ferrari 308, the 550 Barchetta and the 365GTB/4 Daytona.

Pirelli Tyre was present to showcase its Ultra-High-Performance, PZero product, which comes as original equipment on Ferraris.

Pirelli offered guests a ride around the track in a classic Ferrari 308, a car made famous in the television series, Magnum PI, starring Tom Selleck.
