The tastefully pimped Wald Jaguar XJ Series X350 Sports Line Black Bison Edition

Jaguars hardly get a mention in pimp circles even though the manufacturer has a portfolio aimed at sprinkling some awesomeness into its current range.

The line-up is quite short, and includes only the XF, XK and XJ, which are all seriously expensive and respectable machines.

If anyone is to be blessed with the sight of a be-winged Jag, crawling flat on its underbody and adorned with thick layers of side-skirts and wide-body kits, it's likely a full race-spec Le Mans monster or one of those battered old dogs screaming loudly at one of the gory American car destruction derbies.

Wald Design, a Japan-based modifying house famous for some tasty but overboard iterations of Lexus cars, has designed its own view of a hot-looking, big wild cat.

While the XK coupé is the accepted norm of a pimpable Jaguar, Wald has pointed its modification wand at the super-luxurious XJ.

This majestic car is loved by the British aristocracy and, historically, it's the steed of choice of most of the Queen's inner circle.

"Preposterous," I hear them say, followed by chants of "Hang these imbeciles".

Not so quick there My Lord because, actually, this car is lovely.

Wisely, Wald has gone with the previous generation of the XJ, a car with a deep rooted aura of cool thanks to its large but pencil-thin waistline and the kind of wheel-arch size that's aching for a bling set of "dubs" (21-inch rims).

Sensibly, Wald has opted to embolden the luxury car's standard looks. This should be welcomed by our elite who prefer their sports automobiles exclusive, yet tasteful, and fast, yet understated.

A prominent feature on Wald's XJ is the polished wire-mesh grille which puts a sparkle on both the main central air-feeds and below the deck where a specially-made front apron is fitted.

Extra shimmering is effected with day-time LED lamps placed vertically at the tips of both flanks.

Moving slightly inwards, Wald introduced a massive side fin, which is finished off with chrome effect and matched to glittering 21-inchers of alloy shod with 255/30 R21s.

The front pair of tekkies is miniscule by comparison to the rears - the back end sits on a colossal 295/25 R21 pair of rubber.

On the business end - which in modified cars is the part you and I will see more often - this Jaguar, codenamed the Wald XJ Series X350 Sports Line Black Bison Edition, has some special elements.

These include a unique bumper and spoiler combo, a boot lid spoiler, roof spoiler and a racy set of mufflers on a DTM TW 240 sport exhaust system.

Big cats have never been sexier than the 1950s XK and this previous XJ series. Wald has just injected modern, uber coolness.
