The Range Rover Evoque Evoque just got hotter

Very much like the McLaren MP4-12C that has been making waves in the supercar league, the Range Rover Evoque has been grabbing attention in the more mainstream playing-field.

Just as you should expect by now, my creative people in the land of PIMP have been tracking both these new and much-hyped cars with an eye keener than that of a famished hawk.

There are pimping Benjamins to be made and the fastest moving products are from brands that have done their marketing homework.

The Range Rover Evoque is one such vehicle, with the whole world itching to get behind its wheel, and already there are a number of after-market-tuned options in existence.

Our good friends at Merdad - the fabulously outrageous crew responsible for the three-door Porsche Cayenne we featured many moons ago - have been hard at work putting together their thoughts on the ideal Evoque.

The result is the Evoque Mer-Nazz.

Merdad says it seeks to offer clients a bespoke, highly exclusive car.

Mind you, this wouldn't be particularly easy if Land Rover designers hadn't played their part.

The standard car, which I first laid my eyes on at the recent Johannesburg International Motor Show held at Nasrec, is a luscious feast for the eyes, more especially in a red and white paint colour combination.

Merdad Collection's take on the most fashionable car for 2011 includes removing the standard car's front bumper.

This is replaced with a unique apron treatment that shuts out many of the gaping holes signed off by Ratan Tata's men and featuring wider ports where necessary.

Undeniably this unit is super-hot and brings forth a deep-seated tinge of anarchy to a vehicle destined for pet-friendly street cafés, where Victoria Beckham's rivals fill umbrellas with Chanel blown-kisses.

It's a muscular look and is helped along by a new bonnet with new-fangled biceps.

Moving to the sides, Merdad has gone with wider wheel arches to accommodate a massive 22-inch set of alloys from the company's own design catalogue.

In fact, these 'Dubs' are the same units fitted to the company's wide portfolio of cars and can be had either in shiny silver or finished in black.

The car is also available with a multi-spoke alloy version in black. With a contrasting white roof and red brake calipers it will truly blow the minds of anyone who comes across it.

Focus your eye on the not-so-visible shoulder line. Being so reserved, it enhances the African curves of the Mer-Nazz ten-fold.

Special side skirts have also been fitted and there are intakes which blend neatly with the wide arches. Carbon fibre is used as detailing.
