When it comes to roadsters, you cannot but take note of the Triumph Speed Triple R.

Oh yeah, like with car manufacturers, adding the "R" symbolises speed, so Triumph followed suit with the arrival of the Speed Triple R, the ultimate performance roadster.

One of the most iconic bikes in Triumph's range, the Speed Triple street fighter, is the bike on which Hinckley Triumph's foundations have been built. More than 70000 units have been sold since its launch in 1994.

This new model is dripping with beautiful engineering and is lavished with the most desirable components from the biggest names in the motorcycle industry.

According to the British manufacturer, the Speed Triple R delivers the most intense and engaging ride of any Triumph roadster to date, delivering true racetrack performance to satisfy the needs of even the most discerning motorcyclist.

For 2012, Triumph worked closely with Swedish suspension manufacturer Öhlins, which provided the NIX30 43mm forks for the front and a jewel-like TTX36 unit at the rear.

To minimise unsprung weight, lightweight five-spoke forged aluminium wheels developed specifically for the Speed Triple R by PVM are used to deliver even more precise and agile handling.

With the front 0.7kg and rear 1kg lighter than stock, tests have shown that the inertia of the wheels are reduced by 16% and 25% respectively, due to the reduction in unsprung mass.

The uprated Speed Triple has been fitted with four-piston radial monoblock callipers from Brembo, the leading brand in MotoGP racing.

A switchable version of Triumph's electronic anti-lock system is available as an option.

A new, smoother gearbox is perfect for the road and the track.
