Where did you spend your last holiday?

North Wales.

What was the best thing you did while there?

Lots of mountain walking, and eating.

Your favourite city abroad, and why?

A tough one. If pushed, I'll settle for San Francisco, an amazing mix of natural beauty and big, sexy city.

What must a first-time visitor see there?

A helicopter flip over Alcatraz, and a meal afterwards in the Sausalito area.

What was your best holiday ever?

Wilderness trails in the Umfolozi game reserve; very different and very special.

Your worst holiday ever? What happened?

A trip to Cape Town that marked the end of a relationship. A sad time ...

The worst hotel you have stayed in?

A London hotel famous as a "muso hotel" because of its late-night bar. The rooms were tiny, dated and filthy. You could almost hear the cockroaches crawling around ...

The best thing you have been given on holiday ... or pinched from a hotel?

I have NEVER pinched anything from a hotel! But I was given a lovely sarong in Mauritius and most recently a whole gang of gorgeous soft toys in Cape Town.

Your fantasy holiday companion and why?

Someone who can fly a plane (just in case), speak at least 35 languages and who is strong enough to carry all my bags, as well as their own. Know anyone who fits this description?

Your favourite restaurant, anywhere?

An amazing Indian restaurant we went to over and over in Hong Kong. Alternatively, home.

What is the most exotic dish you have ever eaten on holiday?

Eye of Sea Cucumber in Hong Kong. We were being looked after by the Hong Kong Ladies' Society, and ended up having nine-course meals every night.

One place you want to see before you die?

The Amazon and (closer to home) the Okavango Delta.

Have you had any embarrassing moments as a traveller?

Several! I was once thrown out of Harrods for being inappropriately dressed - a tiny bit of my midriff was showing!

Your travel advice?

Try and travel light, and keep some "back up" in your hand luggage for when your suitcase doesn't arrive.
